IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN

It's that time of year again... Cincinnati's Midpoint Music Festival is here! It kicks off tomorrow, September 27th and goes until Saturday, September 29th. Marking it's 11th year this year, the festival is hosting 180 different bands all playing through out the Over-The-Rhine (OTR) area. Venues such as Grammers, MOTR PUB, The Drinkery, JAPP's, Washington Park, and more are hosting some amazing bands. Bands such as Andrew Bird, Grizzly Bear, Best Coast, Bad Veins, Automagik, Dinosaur Jr, Dirty Projectors, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Freelance Whales, Lord Huron, White Arrows, Wild Belle, Cloud Nothings, and many more. The beauty of Midpoint is it's a great place to find new music because it brings up-and-coming artists along with well known artists and even local bands. It has a little bit of everything to please any music lover. If you have no plans this weekend you should head on over to OTR and check out this festival. You can purchase tickets there at the venues or here.

Lord Huron - The Stranger

White Arrows - Get Gone

Wild Belle - Keep You

THE AVETT BROTHERS - THE CARPENTER

"The Carpenter" is The Avett Brothers seventh studio album which came out Sept. 11th. Once again, they did not disappoint. They wrote another series of catchy and hook-filled anthems that represent a range of emotions. There are six songs that I can't stop listening to: "The Once And Future Carpenter", "Live And Die", "Winter In My Heart", "I Never Knew You", "Through My Prayers", and "February Seven". So many of these songs hit me on a personal level. Each time I listen, I fall in love with each track. The Avett Brothers have been around for a while and this album shows that they still know how to write. Give "The Carpenter" a listen. You may find some meaning in it like I did. You may even love it.

*Check out their website, their are a few videos of the brothers telling the story behind a couple of the songs on the album.

SPRING 2013 RTW: MARA HOFFMAN

A beautiful, fun, and bright collection by Mara Hoffman. It has a hawaiian, beachy vibe going on. I love the prints and the bright colors. I would love to own each and everyone of these pieces. I mean, come on, how cute are those dresses?! And that Aloha top! I want.

BAND OBSESSION: JAPANDROIDS

My recent band obsession is Canadian rock duo Japandroids. They are one of those bands that you kind of have to listen to a couple of times until you realize how awesome they really are. They have been around since 2006, with two albums, "Post-Nothing" and "Celebration Rock".  My favorite off the 2nd album "Celebration Rock" is "The House That Heaven Built". Video of the song posted above. They have a punk-rock kind of sound and their music makes you wanna get up and dance.
If you haven't heard of Japandroids, you should totally take a minute or two and listen to them. You will not be disappointed.

SPRING 2013 RTW: CALLA

New York Fashion Week is in full swing and there are so many beautiful collections for spring 2013 ready-to-wear. One of my favorites is Calla Haynes' brand Calla. I love florals and this collection is full of floral prints from dresses to jackets to pants. It's BEAUTIFUL.

Happy Fireworks Day!

It's that time of year again for the WEBN Firworks! People from Kentucky and Cincinnati come out and watch this spectular firework show that they put on every year for the Labor Day weekend. You can watch it from the Ohio side or the Kentucky side. I've gone the pass couple of years and I'm planning to go tonight, if it doesn't get rained out. I always go for the people watching because some interesting people come out for this event. And you always seem to run into people you know while you are there.
It's always a nice way to end the summer with a bang.
